00 an hour Make a Difference - Save lives as a First Responder in 9-1-1 We are looking for dependable individuals who want to serve the members of our community in a vital role in Public Safety.
We answer more than 65,000 calls a year and dispatch emergency services for more than 26 agencies including police, fire, EMS, and rescue.
You must be able to work calmly under pressure, while making time-sensitive decisions.
To be successful in this role you must be able to work well as part of a team while being solution oriented.
We work in a fast-paced environment, being able to adapt to change quickly is a necessity.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Utilize telephone, radio, and computer systems simultaneously to respond to emergency and non-emergency situations.
Ask callers appropriate questions and gather information quickly while logging all pertinent information into the Computer Aided Dispatch system Dispatch the correct response agencies to calls for service depending on jurisdiction and type of incident.
Provide pre-arrival and emergency medical instructions to callers during emergency situations while using good communication skills and empathy.
Prioritize emergency and non-emergency requests for assistance Make quick decisions using good judgement for the best interests of the caller, community, and other first responders Perform support duties relative to Public Safety such as entering warrants, protection orders, and missing individuals into a national database while being detail oriented.
We operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including all holidays and weekends.
Flexibility in your schedule is a must.
Minimum Requirements:
Must be at least 18 years of age Must have a high school diploma or GED Ability to type at least 35 words per minute on a computer keyboard Must obtain a valid driver's license Candidate will be required to pass pre-employment screening which includes drug screen, polygraph, psychological, and background investigation.
Must be able to attend a paid four-week academy at the Department of Criminal Justice Training in Richmond, KY and obtain certification within twelve months of employment.
Completion of paid inhouse training during conditional offer is mandatory.
This is typically a 3-4 months process.
